Every Picture Tells A Story -
2006 My Dog Votes Candlelight Vigils Unite Dog Owners Worldwide
They came together from across the oceans, using the magic of the Internet.
They crossed the barriers of language, culture, age, race, and even form of government. Crossing the distance of time and space, they came together on this night from places like Cookeville, Tennessee and Brisbane, Australia and Shaghai in China.
On August 20th, 2006, dog owners around the world came together to Light A Candle, Save A Life in the 2nd Annual My Dog Votes Worldwide Candlelight Vigil Against Breed Bans, vigils which have taken on expanded meaning in the wake of the mass dog killings in China.
Dog owners around the world commemorated the loss of innocent dogs by flawed public policy. By lighting candles, they shed light the darkness of such policies, and on the fear and ignorance behind those policies.
By lighting candles, they could express their feelings. By lighting candles - they no longer stand silent, they stood up for what is right and moral and just. Every picture tells a story, and by these pictures, I know dog owners everywhere feel in their hearts what I feel in mine - that it is wrong to kill innocent dogs.
To all of you who were keepers of the flame, thank you, thank you, thank you.
